To say that the last record by COPROLITOS is excellent is stating the obvious, although is not bad to make things clear from the beginning.

Si querías un disco más punk que tu prima, aquí lo tienes. Discos Mis Cojones Underground edita esta pequeña joya que recupera una parte muy destacada de la memoria histórica del punk femenino de este país: las CHOPPER CHICKS. Posiblemente, tan desconocidas como grandes. 

Por si no lo sabes, las “miembras” de CHOPPER CHICKS son o han sido parte de muchos de los grupos femeninos que han surgido en Madrid durante la última década: WEBELOS, SWEET NOTHINGS, RHINO WRESTLERS, GRUPO SUB-1, SEÑORAS o SILLA ELÉCTRICA entre otros. Estas tres bellas mujeres, Nuri, Poison y Racky, decidieron en 1998 formar las CHOPPER CHICKS, un grupo de punk amateur (valga la redundancia), donde dar rienda suelta a su afición por grupos como MUMMIES, LOLI AND THE CHONES, TRASHWOMEN, NO TALENTS o SUPERCHARGER. Dos años más tarde, editaron en el sello Tres Cipotes una K7 llamada “Dirt In The Skirt” en un perfecto y esmerado sonido ultra lo-fi, esto es, a piñón fijo, sin ningún tipo de producción o aditivo que enmascarase su sonido. Esa cassette (su único documento sonoro), más algún inédito, ven ahora la luz en forma de vinilo, y de esta forma se repara una injusticia histórica. ¡¡Disfrútenlo mientras puedan!!

If you wanted a "punker than your little cousin" record, there you go: Mis Cojones Underground Records releases this little jewel that recovers a very important part of the history of Spanish female punk: The CHOPPER CHICKS, who were probably as unknown as great.

Just in case you don't know it, the CHOPPER CHICKS members are or were part of some of the best girl-punk bands from Madrid in the last decade: WEBELOS, SWEET NOTHINGS, RHINO WRESTLERS, GRUPO SUB-1, SEÑORAS o SILLA ELECTRICA. These three beautiful girls, Nuri, Poison and Racky, decided in 1998 to create the CHOPPER CHICKS, an amateur punk (is there any other kind?) band where they could show their love to bands like the MUMMIES, LOLI AND THE CHONES, TRASHWOMEN, NO TALENTS or SUPERCHARGER. Two years later, Tres Cipotes releases a cassette demo called "Dirt in the Skirt" with a perfect ultra lo-fi sound, meaning a "keep on playing no matter what" attitude, no production whatsoever and any trick that might cover their real sound. This cassette (their only available recording) plus some never before released tracks are now available as a vinyl record, fixing this way some kind of historic injustice. Enjoy it while it lasts!!!

From Maximum RocknRoll #333 February 2011: A vinyl reissue of a cassette originally released in 2000 by these garage rockin’ women from Madrid, Spain. Wonderfully amateur, rough and gritty music with such piercingly screechy vocals. The singing alone will probably turn off the squares (too bad, losers!). Plus lo-fi trashy production with an emphasis on fun. They probably recorded all nineteen songs in one day and I am glad they did. CHOPPER CHICKS unabashedly take inspiration from the garage punk scene of the ‘90s and go with it. Covers of LOLI & THE CHONES, NO TALENS, SPASTICS, RIP-OFFS, ULAN BATOR, PLASTIC BERTRAND and the CONTOURS if that gives you a hint of what these gals are all about. The result is really cool. (CK)

From Terminal Boredom E-Zine Winter 2010: Holy cow, remember Rip Off Records webmistress and "art dept." employee Poison Bambee? Well I do at least, and I'm sure Greg does. Her past outfit Los Webelos was a tolerable Cramps-like garage-mash but she gets a bit more punk here. The Chopper Chicks are Bambee (moonlighting as Bimbo Oklahoma) with two other Spanish babes (Racky Kentucky - who looks a lot like Angela from Jersey Shore - and Muri Alabama) doing minute-and-a-half 1234 shit-fi garage-punk trash. Covers abound, from the expected sources: Loli & The Chones, Plastic Bertrand, No-Talents, Spastics, Runaways, Supercharger, "Do You Love Me?"...they pack in twenty cuts on two sides at 45 rpms here, for the maximum in low fidelity. It's a pretty cartoon-like affair overall - matching outfits, grrl power, chainsaw chicks in Hot Topic outfits. Sloppy, incompetent, screechy, the covers are the most fun, if just to see how bad they butcher them. It is what it is, "110% lo-fi" garage-punk from Europe, and it at least reminded me of the glory days of the Rip Off empire...even if I never want to hear another cover of "Zodiac" for the rest of my life. I do enjoy the fact that these girls are still keeping the faith.(RK)

Todos nosotros deberíamos estar agradecidos (o no) a la ciudad de El Ferrol por aportar al mundo personajes tan trascendentales y heterogéneos como el pequeño dictadorzuelo, Pablo Iglesias, Concepción Arenal o María Patiño. Su última contribución para mejorar el planeta son los LEE VAN CLEEF, un cuarteto mucho más esencial para el bienestar de la humanidad que el mencionado arriba.

Tómate un descanso de poco más de 5 minutos en tu ajetreada existencia y dale una escucha a estos gallegos en este su single de debut donde rinden homenaje a bandas como THE BOYS, AVENGERS o sus paisanos SINIESTRO TOTAL. Aunque sobra cualquier explicación sobre un grupo gallego cuando se pone manos a la obra, decir que en este disco te vas a encontrar cuatro temas cuatro donde se dan la mano la actitud punk, brillantes melodías y divertidas letras. ¡¡No se puede pedir más!!

Compra o revienta, el punk tenía un precio y ese es el de este single.

Its last contribution to improve the planet are LEE VAN CLEEF, a quartet more important to the world's welfare than all above mentioned people.

Take a five minute break in your busy existence and give a spin to the brand debut 7" of these Galician guys, where they pay homage to THE BOYS, THE AVENGERS or their Galician fellows, SINIESTRO TOTAL. Even though any explanation about a Galician band getting to it is a waste of time, I'd like to add that in this record, you're going to find four tracks (4) where punk attitude, brilliant melodies and funny lyrics find a common place. From Terminal Boredom E-Zine Winter 2010: Yeah, the band name, I know...they're Spanish, give 'em a break. Four tracks of espanol pop-punk rife with Chuck Taylors, Queers and Ramones rips, sunglasses and ripped jeans. I have no idea what they're singing about, but it doesn't help any. There's not much to say about this other than it's not good. Limited to 150 copies though! (RK)

Frantic vocals over messy urgent punk rock, mixing classic Spanish bands of old like ULTIMO RESORTE, and new ones like SILLA ELECTRICA as well as the TYRADES. Bet this lot would be a blast live. The last song “Unagi Don” is a barnstormer!! Totally killer and mandatory (along with the new SILLA ELECTRICA EP on the same label). (TB)

From Terminal Boredom E-Zine Winter 2009: Female-fronted danger-punkers from Madrid with their second EP. Five cuts, Tyrades-esque attack, the chick can spit some good snotvox for sure. First track is a little off because she tries to sing a bit too much, but the remaining four songs rip pretty well. Slightly arty, simple yet effective guitar slash, rhythmic and catchy, I honestly think this stuff is more interesting than the Silla Electrica record. B-Side has some clever post-punky moves and as long as you can hang with her voice for a whole EP, it's a decent Euro-punk ride. Scum stats: 500 copies. (RK)

From Dogends Blog: Miss Melilla is Coprolitos' follow up record after their self titled release a year ago. These guys (and girl) combine KBD style punk rock with a more modern hardcore sound, all while staying close to the sound of the older Spanish bands. While the music on this record is great, the best thing about it are Maria's powerful and energetic vocals which really bring the songs to life. With their second great release in just over a year, Coprolitos have really proven themselves as one of the best current punk bands to come from Spain.

SILLA ELÉCTRICA. Tensión (Blondes Must Die Records BMDR-010) 5.00 EUR.

Estoy entusiasmado y muy feliz de poder anunciar la edición del tercer single de SILLA ELÉCTRICA. From Maximum RocknRoll #320 January 2010: Tour more traces on this band’s third record. Nice snotty punk with dual vocals on a couple tracks that are well done. The effects on Clara’s vocals are really great. “Tension” is completely killer, with rapid-fire singing and enough hooks to grab hold of you and never let go. Great punk record. (MS)

Review From Terminal Boredom E-Zine Winter 2009: Third 7" from Spanish punkers getting some good word of mouth after their first two singles, from the MRR crowd in particular. I've been meaning to investigate on my own, and this showing up in the office gives me the chance. Straight ahead treble-heavy punk, zero frills, mid-fi production. Reminds me a bit of a the less hardcore bands of the K-Town punk revival (maybe Incontrollados/Hjertestop or even Gorilla Angreb). Twin guitars and a drummer, girl-guy vox in Espanol, slightly melodic. Guitars sound great, the girl's voice is far preferable to the dude, they rip through four quick ones here. Pretty good considering what passes for punk these days. Not as great as I was hoping for either. I'm imagining the first two singles were of better quality. Scum stats: 500 copies. (RK)

From Dogends Blog: Silla Electrica are a three piece punk rock bands from Madrid, Spain. Tension is their third journey into the world of vinyl and it's definitely a good one. Silla Electrica play catchy punk rock that still has a raw and unpolished sound, much like that of the older Spanish punk bands from the early 80's. While they sound like they could be from 1983, the lack of a bass guitar and the guy/girl vocals give Silla Electrica a unique sound that you'll definitely want to hear more of.

Terminal Boredom E-Zine Review: Spanish punk with a charismatic frontwoman that defines the band's sound...semi-angular Tyrades-like danger-punk with more melody, bringing some arty touches here and a little post-punk there. Guitar player has some gifts too, he really lets it burn on "Naftalina" (which I think is about a lesbian) and "Perra", and blows the doors off on "Una De Ellos" ("One of Them"). They end it with an interesting country-ish rocker that I didn't see coming either. A really good foreign-punk record for anyone not too lazy to get past the language barrier. Maximum R’n’R Magazine Review: Oh my gooooooodddddd!! Raging, pogo-worthy squeals in Spanish! So good! Super fast moving, melodic bass lines, weird grunge-sequel breakdowns, dancing on the edge of lame indie dude guitar wankage, but it manages to keep it noisy and chaotic. The first side is way more screeching dance rage than side B (which compared to side A is kind of a let down) but they both do well. Total pogo shove energetic wildness. (MM)

Mientras otros jóvenes descarriados intentaban encarrilar su vida lejos del influjo de la necia droga y la delincuencia juvenil en los talleres recreacionales del Proyecto Muchacho, bien sea mediante el modelaje de miga de pan, la mecánica de ciclomotores o el bordado de tejidos patchwork, JOSUAH y ZACHARIAS hacían lo propio en el aula de música de dicha asociación cristiana (redentora de esas almas perdidas en las espirales de depravación en las que irremediablemente se ve abocada nuestra juventud). Subvirtiendo el estilo musical que antaño había sido la banda sonora de sus tropelías y de su moralmente pernicioso ritmo de vida, este par de jóvenes dedican sus canciones a los salvadores de sus otrora condenadas almas: Dios y la congregación religiosa que les ha adoptado bajo su cálido manto. Así, supliendo con Fe su escasa pericia instrumental y su nulo talento musical, intentan emular a aquellos pocos intérpretes de música joven (DEVO, GIZMOS, LOS REACTORS, SCREAMERS, ESKORBUTO, LOLI & THE CHONES, SPITS...) que se encuentran en las cintas que lograron escamotear al férreo-pero-justo control de sus monitores. Ya bajo el nombre de LOS NIÑOSS DEL ARCOIRIS, podrán hacer llegar el mensaje de la congregación a esos jóvenes en cuyas entendederas ha hecho mella la droga, la música punk y la violencia sin sentido, los cuales no escuchan ninguna autoridad si no les es escupida desde un equipo de música por algún desarrapado de su misma especie. Terminal Boredom E-Zine Review: A pleasant European surprise here, from Spain of all places. Ninoss are a two-piece from Madrid, who sing in Espanol and who have obviously been listening to their Loli and the Chones records. Their "press release", written in Spanish, contained the words "Sorry I do not speak English" scribbled across the top, and it's flattering to know that TB can cross geographical and lingual barriers and just get down to the music. Because that's what it's all about at the end of the day, right kids? Anyway, I'm just thrilled that this record is good bordering on great. Josuah and Zacharias spit out five burners here, containing equal doses of angry Childish whomp (the title cut) and the best in classic Rip Off Records styled dumb-punk ("Detox Baby"). Sort of like Splash Four meets Eskorbuto. Even some Spits-like inanity is exhibited on "Surfers Satanicos". "Todo por la Secta" might be the real winner here, with an odd kind of echo-whistle sound in the background, and on the guitar solo where, instead of toughing up the sound for a blistering lead like most punks would, they wimp it out with some real mellow-like effect. Wacky. A nice package: high energy, catchy tunes, fun but not too goofy, good and rough sound without being gimmickly lo-fi. The best Spanish punk I've heard in a long time, but I guess that ain't saying too much. Let's just say I'd enjoy this no matter where it hailed from. Scum stats: my copy is black vinyl and labeled out of 174, and it was a 200 press, with a 33 copy variant whose details I can't translate. Nice screened sleeve and lyric insert.(RK)

Ya se encuentra disponible la cuarta referencia del sello Blondes Must Die Records que viene a dar la puntilla al gran momento que atraviesa la actual etapa del punk hispánico....¡¡¡guerra al aburrimiento, a los punteos y al jipipunk!!!!

Por un lado del vinilo tenemos a los zaragozanos RIZILLOS, una de las pocas bandas españolas en activo que pueden presumir de tener a sus espaldas varios singles (todos de gran nivel) repletos de punk y new wave a partes iguales. En esta oportunidad nos deleitan con otros 4 temas, 3 propios y una sobresaliente versión castellanizada del “Fix Me” de los BLACK FLAG. Abanderados del descaro, la desvergüenza, la diversión y las canciones de menos de 2 minutos, han contado, en esta ocasión, con la inestimable colaboración al bajo, en el tema “Japón”, de Ixma de LA BROMA DE SATAN. Para los que ya han disfrutado de sus anteriores trabajos, este les entusiasmará más si cabe. Para los que no los conozcan…..¡¡¡¡cuidado!!!......nunca te agaches a por una moneda dandoles la espalda….los RIZILLOS no hacen prisioneros.

Tomando la alternativa, nos encontramos al otro lado del disco a cuatro tiernos mancebos madrileños que responden al nombre de C´MON TUTANKHAMON. Lo suyo dará mucho que hablar y pronto serán un grupo de culto (parafraseando una de sus primeras composiciones), vivirán desahogadamente (más aún de lo que lo hacen ahora) y las chicas no les dejarán ni a sol ni a sombra…….cuando oigáis sus canciones fliparéis y sabréis de lo que hablo. ¿Punk? ¿Hardcore? ¿New Wave?.........yo creo que ni ellos mismos son conscientes (no tienen de eso) de las tres increibles canciones que han hecho para este disco. Recuerda que me debes un favor por haber puesto en tu plato a los C’MON.

Blondes Must Die Records está orgulloso de presentar su tercera referencia. Sólo 110 copias se han editado del single que marcará un antes y un después en la historia del punk hispano. Si te quieres sentir humillado, abochornado y avergonzado de que un grupo pueda llegar a editar un disco así en un sello medianamente decente, esta es tu oportunidad. Lo-Fi Punk extremo. Al mismo tiempo, mientras intentas despertar de una pesadilla sonora, te emocionarás con unas letras repletas de contenidos sociales (la lucha contra el Kapital continúa), homenajes más que merecidos a los verdaderos punkis que han sido y serán (desde Bob Marley a Eskorbuto pasando por Sid Vicious y Azagra), y tributos al punk de verdad………al PUNK BERDADHERO. Disco NO APTO PARA PURISTAS DEL SONIDO. Una pequeña molestia para los oídos, un gran placer para los sentidos.

No busques más porque no vas a encontrar otro disco tan asquerosamente punk. GRUPO SUB-1 surge de la mítica banda de Punk, WEBELOS. Después de disolverse han vuelto a la carga con el batería de la primera formación y otro nombre. En este disco nos traen 4 cortes con el mismo sonido de siempre pero enriquecido con un teclado que le da un toquecillo New Wave. En la cara de los WEBELOS tenemos otros 4 temas que ahora recuperamos y que en su momento se quedaron fuera de algunos de sus discos previos, entre 1997 y 2002, por problemas de espacio. De estas 4 canciones, 3 son versiones (DEAD BOYS, TRAGICS y SINIESTRO TOTAL) y una propia. Edición limitada y numerada de 330 copias.
